I was ‘helpfully’ guiding a large fly, with a soft towel towards an open window a few inches above its distressing attempts to find an escape route through a pane of glass in the sitting room. As it did everything to escape from the offered help, I was struck suddenly with the thought of how often we humans are softly offered help at times of need, and we are unaware, resist or ignore the help through uncertainty or perhaps fear of change.
How often we may struggle to find our way at difficult times, lost in the battle or the fog of our emotions and yet if we stop for a second, there may be a hand, a sign from our guides, a passage in a book, an unspoken gesture that is directing us to the help we need. We can make a choice, be willing to ask for help and then wait for the signs..essentially..the soft towel to guide us forward.
Some years ago I was struggling with emotional turmoil, unsure of what to do. I asked ‘God’ in the form of Kwan Yin ( The Buddha of Compassion ) for help and within days I had a sudden realisation of what I needed to do. “It’ wasn’t going to be ‘done for me’, I had to accept the ‘soft towel’ that was offered to me and I found my way out. I could have chosen to ignore the prompting from my soul, turn away from the help and continue to struggle to find my way through and hopefully exit the problem. Instead I chose to trust, allow, and follow the ‘escape route, the hand offered’. I walked instead along the path of trust to freedom and healing.
