Here we are again, another day when we are able to offer thoughts of love to our Beloveds….a day when we can demonstrate our love by sending cards, flowers, chocolates and sharing special meals…whispering sweet nothings
There are those who revel in the idea of doing this whilst waiting hopefully to receive a token of another’s love for us in return…and those who have no beloved, or in a relationship where romance is not celebrated.
Some would say that every day is a day where we can exchange those special words and feelings; whilst others would argue that doing so would dilute the sincerity, that we would somehow become ‘used to it’..it would no longer be special.
Who am I to judge? I only know that each and every day I say a silent prayer of gratitude to all the people in my life…including those who push my buttons…especially to those, because they have been my greatest teachers
Having spent a good deal of my life in nursing, experiencing the frailties of life.. the one experience that remains etched on my mind is of a young man admitted to CCU and died very suddenly of a Heart Attack. His young wife was distraught, understandibly so…but more so because he had wanted to make love to her that afternoon and she had declined as she had wanted to watch the Wimbledon final.
My heart went out to her, her anguish at putting the TV before her love for her husband…but bless her, how was she to know. It taught me a lesson..well two, not to miss an opportunity to let our beloveds know that we love them and also to have love and compassion for ourselves for the times when life takes over and we forget.
We forget that we are loved, we forget that we are loveable. If today you are ‘alone;, celebrate your love for you…do something wonderful that says ‘I love you’ to you. Know that you are special and valuable and there is a greater force around us that loves us unconditionally, whether it be Valentines day or any other day.
