I love this quote from John Lennon. So simple and yet so profound.
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
John Lennon (1940-1980); musician, founding member of the Beatles
We are programmed from birth to behave in certain ways, think in certain ways and be a certain way. It is interesting to stop and ponder our thoughts and behaviour…to see if those thoughts/behaviour are really ‘us’, who we really are, and ask the question ‘Is this me, my true Self? Or, is that ‘self’ a construct of my ancestors, my culture, my education, the result of programming, inherited beliefs and conditioning? Of course, not all programming is negative. For example, we are programmed/trained to avoid putting our hands in an open fire, look before we venture across a road etc. However, some programmes are limiting and potentially damaging, for instance young boys who are admonished for openly crying… ‘Boys don’t cry’ ‘Only girls cry.’ How many men are carrying the trapped energy associated with the stigma of crying, or worse, the trapped energy of unexpressed emotions.
Perhaps stop for a while and ask yourself the questions ‘Who am I, What makes me happy, brings me joy? I believe that it is vital to ask ourself what brings us happiness. Are we stuck in patterns of beliefs and behaviours that are limiting the joy in our life? Do we allow/gift ourself time to nurture our ‘Self’ or are our programmes dictating that our time is spent working/giving of ourself when we truly need to switch off the ‘phone, close the door on the world for 20 minutes and nurture ‘me’
During an energy session, the client may be asked if they have any negative programmes. If so and it is appropriate, they are identified, released and replaced with positive, life enhancing programmes that are for the Highest good. It is surprising how many of us are unaware of the programmes we hold.
Another wonderful quote I came across quite by chance :
‘ Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and go do that; because what the world needs is people that have come alive’ John Eldridge
That ‘aliveness’ might be as profound and life changing as a new career or as simple as taking time out to learn to draw, play a musical instrument or have a scented bath once week. If that makes you come alive, the world and it’s vibration will be lifted 🙂 It appears that our negative programming can be preventing us from allowing the opportunity to be alive and to ‘be’ our true Self.
